Warrior Men Outmatched Against Bluejays

Hillsboro, Kan. – The Warrior men's basketball team started slow and wasn't able to recover Wednesday night in Hillsboro against the Tabor College Bluejays. Sterling fell into a 15 point hole midway through the first half and was never able to put a good run together to make up the deficit. Sterling lost to Tabor 74-59.

The Warriors held tight with the Bluejays until it was 10-10, but from then on it was all Tabor. After 13 minutes of play, Sterling was down fifteen and was kept at arm's length the rest of the way. Trailing by fifteen at halftime, Sterling was able to keep pace in the second half, but it was too little too late. This marks their ninth loss in their last ten games.

Sterling shot just 33% from the field and 16% from 3-point range. Sterling was able to grab more rebounds and turned the ball over fewer times than the Bluejays.

Mooch Austin led the way once again for Sterling with 23. Will Thigpen and Elias Ngoga each had 11. Lucas Briar once again was found crashing the boards with 9 rebounds in the contest.

Sterling faces the York University Panthers on Saturday; a team they are currently tied with in the KCAC standings. This Saturday's game will be played at Sterling College in the Gleason Center and is scheduled for a 4 pm tipoff. Come by as we will be honoring our Seniors as we will celebrate Senior Day as well.
