Warriors Fall to #9 Moundbuilders

Sterling, Kan. – The Warrior men had a tall task facing the #9 Southwestern College Moundbuilders on Wednesday night. They were able to hold their own for about thirty of the forty minutes of game time. As good teams do, the Builders wore out the Warriors and pulled away late with a final score of 85-59.

Midway through the first half, Sterling was within a basket of Southwestern. As time began to wind down on the first half, the Warriors found themselves slowing falling farther and farther behind the Builders. At halftime the score was 43-30 in favor of Southwestern.

Sterling made a run in the second half and methodically picked away at the Southwestern lead. They were able to get within seven before Southwestern's hot shooting took over. Back to back threes built the lead back to thirteen and then it steamrolled from there. By the time the clock ran out, Sterling trailed by twenty-six, 85-59.

Mooch Austin once again led Sterling in scoring with 18 points, Jayden Garrison followed with 10. Although struggling on the offensive end, Lucas Briar fought for 9 rebounds to lead the Warriors.

Next up for Sterling is the Tabor College Bluejays on Wednesday in Hillsboro. Tipoff is set for 8 pm.
