Warrior Athletics Announces Blevins as Director of Cross Country and Track

Sterling, Kan.-Sterling College Athletics and Vice President for Athletics, Scott Downing, announced today that Mason Blevins will be the next Director of Cross Country and Track and Field.

Athletic Director, Justin Morris, is looking forward to the opportunity the Warriors have with Blevins. "We are really excited to add Mason to our staff. We believe that Mason is a great fit for Sterling College and excited for him to grow the cross country and track program. His experience at John Brown University and Athletes in Action will help him build a successful program on the track, in the classroom, and in his student-athlete's personal lives."

Blevins comes to Sterling after spending a season as a graduate assistant coach for the John Brown University distance staff. In his year on staff, he was involved in recruiting, meet prep and was a group coach for the 5k and 10k athletes. He also helped increase the Golden Eagles' roster size by 30 percent.

Before coaching at JBU, Blevins spent 3 years working for Athletes in Action where he was a part of the Track and Field staff and Communications Coordinator. He was charged with planning, preparing, and recruiting student-athletes for events that helped to develop them physically, mentally, and physically. He also helped lead teams to Spain and North Africa.

Blevins has this to say about his opportunity at Sterling College. "I am humbled and honored to lead the Sterling College Cross Country and Track & Field programs. I want to thank Justin Morris, Scott Downing, and Sterling College Athletics for entrusting me with this incredible opportunity. I also would like to thank my wife, Emily, who has been so incredibly supportive. We both were drawn to Sterling College's Christ-centered mission and vision, and consider it a privilege to lead this program. I see enormous potential to grow and develop a successful XC/Track program here at Sterling College. I am eager to work with our current athletes and can't wait to get started. Go Warriors!"

Blevins earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Strategic Communication from Morehead State University in 2018 while also earning a minor in Health. He was a four-year runner at Morehead and was selected as the 2018 male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He also competed in the 2019 Boston Marathon. Blevins has already received his USA Track and Field Level 1 Coaching Certification.
