Sterling, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Women's Soccer Team took the road to Sterling, Kansas to face the Sterling College Warriors in the Swedes' conference opener.
Bethany started off on the offensive end as the Swedes would take two corner kicks and two shots on goal within the first 10 minutes of the match. Although the Swedes outshot the Warriors in the first half, but Sterling was able to find the back of the net once to lead 1-0 at the break.
In the second half, the Warriors would stretch their lead to two by way of a free kick placed perfectly out of reach of the goalie. Sterling would tack on one more in the final three minutes via a penalty kick to take this one 3-0.
Skyler Armstrong and Jacqueline Escalera tied for the team lead in shots. Escalera led the team in shots on goal. Mackenzie Nutter drew the start and played the entire game tallying 4 saves.

The Swedes take a trip to Winfield, Kansas to take on the Southwestern College Moundbuilders. Kickoff is set for 5:00 PM Saturday, September 16th.
