Women's Soccer Defeats Sterling College 5-0

Leavenworth, Kan.- The University of Saint Mary Women's Soccer team hosted Sterling College Saturday night, winning by a score of 5-0. The Spires are now 1-8-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the KCAC.

Saint Mary applied early pressure to the Warriors and kept it up all night. The Spires got out in front after the first twenty minutes of play with a goal from Morgan Young. Saint Mary did not let up and continued to apply offensive pressure on Sterling. Over the next ten minutes, Katy St. Martin and Kelsey Ray both found the back of the net and extended the Spire's lead to 3-0. Madison Sharp ended the half with one more goal for Saint Mary and gave them a commanding 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second period, the Spires continued to produce scoring opportunities. Fifteen minutes into the half, Kaylee Shaw scored the Spire's final goal of the night and made it 5-0 in favor of Saint Mary. The Warriors built up pressure with time dwindling but could not score to get on the board, and the game ended in a 5-0 win for the Spires. Ray and St. Martin each led the team with three shots on goal.
