BETHANY DROPS DOUBLE HEADER TO STERLING

Sterling, Kan.- The Bethany College Swedes were on the road, Wednesday, April 2^nd at Sterling College, taking on the Warriors in a weekday double header that started at 3pm.

Game 1: The first game of the day promised to a close and low scoring game as both teams were entering the bottom of the 4^th inning tied at nil-nil. Unfortunately for the Swedes, the Warriors managed to break the tie and the score was 0-1 going into the top of the 5^th inning. Bethany looked to send a response but Sterling scored again the bottom of the 5^th to extend the lead to 0-3. The Swedes did what they could but Sterling held on and finished with the shutout. Final score 0-3 in favor of the Warriors.

Dylann Baker started in the circle for Bethany and faced 21 batters and threw 49 strikes out of 81 pitches before being relieved by Ayianna Revels. Ayainna Revels faced 5 batters and threw 10 strikes out of 17 pitches.

Game 2: The Swedes looked to gain momentum in the second game and go for the split. The Warriors had other plans and quickly set the tone. The score going into the top of the third was 0-7 as Sterling scored four runs in the first inning and three in the second. Down by seven, Bethany needed to find a solution fast as the game was quickly approaching shorten innings. But before they could, the Warriors scored again in the bottom of the 4^th with the lead now by 9. The game ended after five innings with the final score being 0-9.

MacKenzie McCaslin was on the mound to start for Bethany in Game 2 and faced 15 batters and threw 25 strikes out of 47 pitches before being relieved by Jordyn Stelzig. Jordyn Stelzig faced 12 batters and threw 22 strikes out of 48 pitches. Paris Hammer finished in the circle for the Swedes and faced 4 batters and threw 3 strikes out of 9 pitches.

Bethany will be on the road in Ottawa, Kan., to take on the Ottawa University Braves, Sunday, April 6^th, in a weekend double header starting at 1pm.
