
FIRST HALF DEFICIT TOO MUCH AS SWEDES FALL 77-88
Sterling, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes Men's Basketball team took the road for their first conference road game against the Sterling College Warriors.
Both teams opened the game to rough starts as the first points of the contest weren't scored until the 17:46 mark of the first half in favor of the Warriors. Emmanuel Akpan would score the first points for the Swedes ending a 5-0 run by Sterling. Unfortunately, the Warriors would continue to build their lead as they would take a 44-30 lead into the break.
The second half would see more the same to start off as the Swedes would find themselves down 21 with 14:38 left to play. Bethany would not go down without a fight. Maurice Cudjo II would lead the Swedes on a 16-4 run with 8 of those points to cut the deficit down to single digits. Ellis Todd and Kenny Haynes would each hit a layup to put the game in a two-possession state, but the Warriors would find their grove again and close it out defeating the Swedes 88-77.
Maurice Cudjo II would have his best game of the season so far with 23 points going three-for-six from beyond the arc. Kenny Haynes would tack on an additional 19. Ellis Todd would pour in 11 points to go along with his career high in rebounds (9). Emmanuel Akpan would add 10 points with eight rebound, one steal, one block, and two assists. Devin Spencer would continue to terrorize opposing offenses with three steals on the night.
As a team, the Swedes shot 49.2% from the floor bettering their season average by 3.3%. Bethany dominated the points in the paint outscoring Sterling 46-32, but the Warriors would win the battle beyond the arc 33-21.

The Swedes are set to take on the Bethel College Threshers Saturday, November 23. Tipoff is set for 5:00 PM. This will be the final game before Thanksgiving Break for the Swedes.
