Bio

Ryan “Pete” Manely started at Sterling College in the fall of 2003 after working as the head athletic trainer at Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Ohio. In 2006, Manely became the director of Athletic Training and was a driving force behind the Graduate Athletic Training Program which was started at Sterling in 2018. He also serves as the Department Chair for Health Science and a Professor of Athletic Training.

During his time at SC, he has been named the NAIA ATA Athletic Trainer of the Year twice (2010-11 and 2023-24), the KCAC Athletic Trainer of the Year (2015-16), the Sterling College McCreery Teacher of the Year (2015) and was inducted into the Barton County Community College Athletic Hall of Fame (2015). He also serves as the President Elect of the NAIA ATA Baord and is a Co-Chair of the NAIA Council for Student Athletes.

Hailing from Lebanon, Kan., Manely got his associates degree from Barton Community College, received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education with an emphasis in Athletic Training and minors in history and math from Charleston Southern University in 1996. One year later, he got his Master of Science in Physical Education and Sports Medicine from Ohio University. In 2016, he completed his Doctorate in Health Science from Nova Southeastern University.

In his free time, Manely enjoys music, reading, BBQ competitions/catering, and eating out with friends. He resides in Sterling with his wife, three kids, two dogs and two cats.
